Manchester to Cumberland Gap
Following Goose Creek south out of Manchester leads the traveler to the short overland portage at Paint Gap.
South of Paint Gap, the travel finds Stinking Creek, flowing southwest to the Cumberland River. After following
the Cumberland River for a short distance to Pineville Gap, the traveler would cross over the Gap to Yellow Creek.
Yellow creek in turn leads directly to Cumberland Gap, and after Cumberland Gap, "the world".
